The new location of Root Gallery

We are excited to finally share with you the new location of Root Gallery!

As from now, Root Gallery can be found on the sixth floor of the renewed creative breeding ground Het Archief, at the Robert Fruinstraat 52, in the West part of Rotterdam. Built in 1970, this former archive of the municipality of Rotterdam now houses artists' studios and offices for the cultural sector, as well as spaces for lectures and small-scale events. After years of vacancy it is now being transformed into a vibrant and versatile location, offering endless opportunities for creativity to flow.

The new location of Root Gallery is enriched with a large stock space that gives more freedom to visitors, allowing them to walk around and gaze at the works from previous exhibitions and art fairs. In addition, the high ceilings and large exhibition space grants more opportunities for showcasing. We believe in its potential to become a special place where the sphere of the artistic collective has even more room to expand.

The doors to the gallery will be opened midway March, welcoming you with an exciting exhibition by one of our newly accompanied artists, Freerk Wilbers. Freerk makes kinetic artworks and light installations that originate from experimental research and unexpected findings. His work is 'aleatoric', or based on chance, meaning he has no full control over what happens. In search of rhythms, in image and in sound, in time and in space, Freerk tries to convey a sensory experience where the physical sculpture and its projections of light into space intersect.

We hope to see you soon!
