While I Look At The Sky by Quinda Verheul

Quinda Verheul recently revealed her outdoor sculpture ‘While I Look At The Sky’ commissioned by RORO Buiten. RORO brings temporary visual art to the outdoor area of Rotterdam. Every year, three artists from Rotterdam create a work that can be seen 24/7 at three different locations for twelve months.

For this work, Quinda was inspired by the origin of gold. A material that is so valuable and precious to us, seems to be abundant out there; in space. Meteorites and asteroids, that are composed of nickel and metallic iron with a solid gold core, hit the Earth which resulted in the exposure of gold. She was fascinated by this natural phenomenon and created an artwork that reminds of this process, with golden pools that look to the sky.

’While I Look At The Sky’ is located at the Tollensstraat in Rotterdam. The Works of Tonio de Roover and Anne Kolber can be found at the Gerard Scholtenstraat and Bergselaan.
