Filtered - duo Lisette Schumacher and Saïd Kinos

We are pleased to present the duo exhibition Filtered, with works by Lisette Schumacher and Saïd Kinos. The opening will take place on the 3rd of September from 19:00 until 22:00.

In daily life we undergo and experience unimaginably many physical and digital experiences. These experiences - that primarily consist of visual information - influence the way in which we experience the world around us. Lisette and Saïd process the visual information through which they are intrigued, by analyzing and extracting fragments from it. After many studies they build up their pieces with strong compositions into abstracted imaging with powerful colorization. The series of works resulting from it are not objective, they remain close to the makers and their experiences.

03.09.2020 - 24.10.2020

On location, Lisette observes the buildings of Le Corbusier, paying close attention to form, construction and lighting. During a temporary stay, she observes how the function of a building determines the shape, layout, and dimensioning.  The results of her observations are pure, abstract and spherical works based on technical, material research. Light-dark contrasts catch the eye, and the gradients found in the acrylic paint refer to the way in which light falls and spreads into a certain space. In her paintings, all the different lighting situations between day and night are combined. Spaciousness is determined by gradations in colour and contrast.

Saïd is fascinated by the way people communicate with each other. Communication through language, technology, and the combination of both are his biggest sources of inspiration. The incredible speed, and with it the transience of our modern forms of communication, is a common denominator in all his work. Saïd translates his fascination into paintings, installations, and large, public murals. The work of Saïd can be identified by its typographic nature, using striking contrasts and clear colour combinations. The aesthetics of his work echo the constant stream of (visual) stimuli people are exposed to these days.

Please be aware that 1.5 meter distance is requested at all times. We are pleased to welcome you to the gallery.
