Reaching Down Within is a continuation - or addition to - the earlier work Where The Field Meets The Forest. Both works are about balance and our relationship with nature. Sophie combines found materials from nature and, as it were, glues them with a piece of black clay. In this work, the clay and the piece of rock form an almost yin yang shape, working together to keep the dried flower upright. This still life evokes a sense of calm, despite the fact that the structure could collapse at any moment.
