Presenting new work, new voices, and new connections.
Art Rotterdam 2025 was a celebration of new beginnings, bold presentations, and inspiring encounters. Root Gallery proudly showcased new works by Vera Klaus, Lisette Schumacher, Saïd Kinos, and Sophie de Vos, four artists who each brought a fresh, personal perspective to this year’s edition. From vibrant paintings to poetic photography, our booth offered a dynamic experience for art lovers, collectors, and curious visitors alike.

Lisette Schumacher
For Art Rotterdam 2025, Lisette Schumacher unveiled a striking new series that expands her exploration of light, space, and perception. Painted on solid panels, these works move beyond her earlier box-like constructions into softer, floating compositions that change throughout the day. Inspired by her time in California, where she studied the effect of light on mid-century modern architecture, Lisette creates works that blur the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and installation. The response was overwhelmingly positive, 7 of the 9 works from this series have already found a new home.

Vera Klaus
In her first appearance at Art Rotterdam, Vera Klaus presented her most expressive and energetic works to date. These large-scale canvases are full of intuitive mark-making, vibrant colours, and titles that evoke joyful memories and everyday beauty. Vera’s work was warmly received, six pieces were acquired during the fair, a clear sign of how deeply her work resonated with visitor

Sophie de Vos
Also exhibiting at Art Rotterdam for the first time, Sophie de Vos continued her series Fragments of Clarity, a body of photographic work exploring the many meanings of reflection. By layering glass and image, she challenges viewers to consider not only what they see, but how they see it. Her compositions are both visually striking and emotionally charged, drawing you in with their quiet intensity.

Saïd Kinos
Saïd Kinos presented a new direction in his practice, combining collage techniques with gestural painting and bold typography. In these works, he reflects on themes of fatherhood, identity, and language, blending visual rhythm with intimate storytelling. These compositions balance graphic clarity with expressive depth, inviting viewers to pause and reflect.
