Red Spinner marks a pivotal moment in Freerk Wilbers’ practice. For the first time, the work depends on the viewer’s physical involvement to exist fully. Four segmented circles are mounted on rotating axes and connected through a system of springs, allowing each element to respond independently within a shared structure.

A single movement sets the work in motion. From that moment on, control gradually gives way to variation: different starting points generate different sequences, never repeating in exactly the same way. The result is a quiet choreography of movement, shaped by rhythm, tension and release.

The work invites a restrained form of interaction. It is engineered with precision, yet sensitive by nature, asking for attention rather than force. In a private setting, Red Spinner unfolds as an intimate encounter with motion, time and system behaviour.

Delivery in the Netherlands and Belgium is complimentary, carefully arranged in consultation, either in person or securely shipped. We’re happy to advise on placement and presentation.
