RGB - Freerk Wilbers

Perception is never fixed.

RGB is a kinetic sculpture that continuously redefines how we experience space, light and colour. As the work rotates, its surfaces catch the light from different angles, shifting between red, green and blue. The foundational colours of the digital screen. But unlike a screen, there’s no fixed frame here. The image is never still, and the viewer’s position becomes part of the composition.

Freerk Wilbers’ work occupies a space between engineering and intuition. The movement is not pre-programmed, it follows the physics of weight, friction and balance. The result is a visual rhythm that unfolds differently with every viewing. It draws the eye in, not just because of what it shows, but because of what it makes us reconsider: how technology and tactility, precision and perception, can co-exist in one experience.

RGB lends itself to architectural spaces that invite interaction. The work isn’t merely placed, it activates its surroundings. It offers viewers not a single moment, but a shifting presence that continues to evolve throughout the day.
With a background in mechanical engineering, Freerk Wilbers brings technical expertise into dialogue with visual sensitivity. His work is part of international private and corporate collections and is often developed in response to a specific spatial context, making each installation unique in its interaction with architecture, light and the viewer’s movement.

With its scale, presence and ever-shifting nature, RGB is particularly suited to architectural environments that allow the work to unfold over time.
