In Shimmers in the Charts, Donald Schenkel continues his exploration of layered colour and material-driven abstraction. Using tools he developed himself, Donald applies and disrupts the paint to create shifting surfaces that seem to glow from within. Light blues and muted oranges dominate the canvas, forming a balanced yet dynamic composition that invites stillness and movement at once.

Compared to earlier works, this painting feels lighter in tone but equally rich in depth. Donald’s technique reveals delicate transparencies, tactile textures, and subtle transitions, each element contributing to a sense of space that unfolds slowly, with time.
