Auszeit (Time Out) is a mixed media painting by Vera Klaus in which vivid colour spreads across raw canvas through spontaneous gestures, drips and fluid paint stains. Bright tones of pink, yellow, orange and deep violet interact with delicate lines and splashes of pigment, creating a composition that feels both energetic and open.

The painting develops through movement rather than structure. Larger colour gestures dissolve into the surface while smaller marks and drawn elements appear between them, forming a lively rhythm across the canvas. Areas of exposed canvas remain visible, allowing the material qualities of the surface to play an important role.

The work carries a sense of pause within movement. Colour gathers and disperses across the canvas, creating a moment of lightness and reflection within the expressive flow of the composition.
