Mirror and concrete

For the Flood series, Quinda Verheul explored rivers, their behaviour and the industry around them. Rivers contain valuable sand. The grains of the sand in rivers have the perfect shape to be sticky in combination with cement and concrete structures. When taking too much sand from the river, its shape and its natural course can drastically change. This could have catastrophic consequences such as the potential collapse of sandbanks. A somewhat invisible side effect. The landscapes of rivers and the tales of the land are fundamental for this series.
