Quinda Verheul is a visual artist exploring and immersing herself in the constantly changing landscapes and the influence of humans on this process. Quinda Verheul applies her ideas to sculptures, large scale immersive installations as well as installation works in public spaces for her autonomous practice as well as commissions worldwide.
In her work Quinda Verheul often addresses what is otherwise invisible; places, environments and situations that escape us. She creates sculptures and art installations exploring topics like industrial mining, dredging and delving for treasures. The different topics that Quinda explores in different series are all interconnected. Inspired by the concept of monism, she believes that everything is one; every particle is connected to the bigger thing around us. In her work, every series explores a different fragment of the larger story. Part of this is exploring different techniques and materials that express the concepts she works with. Laying bare some of the processes that go into the alteration of landscapes, Quinda Verheul aims to create a space for inspiration, conversation and reflection.

Complementary to her practice as an artist, Quinda Verheul is also an athlete partaking in several competitions each year. Usually, these are solo ultra-distance mountain bike competitions that depend on self sufficiency. Being in the midst of the landscape, experiencing the mountains, the different weather conditions, and the site at night enhances her fascination for the landscape which is inextricably reflected in her practice.
Quinda created a new series that she has named after her favourite mountain pass in Kyrgyzstan; Kegeti - a 4000 metres pass with steep and inhospitable conditions. What inspired this new series was the image of black rocks at the top of the mountain. Lingering in thin air, the black stood out against the blue sky. Being alone for days and finding the motivation to continue created a lot of room for reflection. It was in this moment that she truly became one with her environment.
