Root Gallery has quietly been open by appointment for the past 18 months. Over that time, we’ve welcomed collectors, artists, and curious visitors in a way that allowed for close, personal encounters with the work. But something’s been missing, not the art, but the shared experience around it. The energy of a full space, the exchange between strangers, the sense that something is unfolding together.
This autumn, we’re expanding. A renewed gallery programme, regular opening hours and the return of moments we’ve long looked forward to. We’re excited for what’s ahead, but we don’t want to rush past what’s already here.
This lunch is our way of marking the transition. Of honouring not just what’s coming, but also the connections being made this summer. We look forward to the season ahead, but we won’t forget the people who crossed our path just before it began.
To mark this new chapter, we’re inviting you to something special: a well-prepared lunch in good company, hosted at the gallery in late September 2025. Surrounded by the works of our opening exhibition A Sense of Arrival, this will be a special moment to celebrate presence, connection, and everything that happens in between.
A personal invitation for those who collect
Everyone who acquires a work from Root Gallery - online or in person - between 1 June and 31 August 2025, will receive a personal invitation to this one-off event.
There will be no ticket sales. No public sign-up. This moment is for those whose choice to collect this summer naturally leads us into a season worth celebrating.
Not a programme, but a shared table
This will not be an event in the traditional sense. No stage, no formalities, no press. Just a long table, thoughtfully prepared food, and a group of people brought together by art. We’re calling it a lunch, but it’s really a gesture, of appreciation, of reconnection, and of trust in what we’re building together.
You’ll meet the artists whose work brought you here. You’ll have time to talk, to ask, to reflect. And above all, to be present. With others who share your love for contemporary art, and the quiet luxury of choosing it deliberately.

With each acquisition, you don’t just receive a work, you become part of the future of this space.
And this September, we’ll welcome you not just as a visitor, but as a guest at our table.
If the group grows too large, we’ll simply divide the lunch into two smaller, equally personal moments. The event will take place during the weekend. Can’t attend? Your invitation is transferable, you’ll receive a printed voucher that can also be gifted.
