High Moon is one of three glass sculptures that form Freerk Wilbers’ Moon Series, a body of work exploring movement, perception, and light through refined material precision. Each sculpture translates the optical phenomenon known as the moiré effect into a quiet, spatial experience.
Printed on both sides of a single glass plate, High Moon reveals a subtle, shifting illusion that comes to life as the viewer moves. The sculpture itself remains perfectly still, yet the image of the moon seems to hover and transform within the transparent surface.
With High Moon, Wilbers continues his exploration of how minimal forms can evoke a sense of motion and wonder. The result is a kinetic glass sculpture that merges optical science with craftsmanship, inviting viewers to experience stillness as movement.
