From the series Desert Modernism
In Desert Modernism VI, Lisette Schumacher translates the atmosphere of Palm Springs and the architecture of Desert Modernism into a compact spatial work. The piece combines warm orange, peach and golden tones with translucent layers, creating a sense of depth that shifts with the light.
The work is part of Schumacher’s Desert Modernism series, inspired by her visit to Frey House II, the historic 1964 home designed by Albert Frey. Rather than depicting the house directly, she works with colour, reflection and material to evoke the meeting point between architecture, desert light and landscape.e.
