The Between the Desert and the Ocean series at Root Gallery delves into the balance between two vast, contrasting landscapes, capturing the essence of Morocco's Atlas Mountains. Using concrete mixed with magenta and ochre pigments, each piece is carefully layered on a rose-tinted oval mirror, achieving a tactile, almost geological quality that mirrors the rugged textures of desert and mountain. The mirror introduces an ethereal quality, reminiscent of the ocean’s expanse and its reflective depth. This fusion of raw concrete and delicate mirror creates a harmonious duality - where earthy tones meet fluid, reflective surfaces - inviting viewers to reflect on the connections between land and sea, solidity and fluidity.
