Never Lost Black I

Foam and Flock in black with oker
The Never Lost series consists of wall sculptures and three dimensional work that is reminiscent of eroded and weathered fragments of mountains. For this, she experimented with new materials and techniques that allowed her to create her own versions of an imagined world. In this, one can discover strong references to existing landscapes that Quinda Verheul previously visited, such as Utah and Iceland. Yet, her work retains a certain mystery, something intangible. The play of light on the curved, velvet-like structures creates an intriguing effect for the viewer. ‘Never Lost’ tells stories of unknown landscapes and lays bare some of the invisible processes that go into the alterations of landscapes in a very subtle way.

Unique
Madelon Uljee creates sculptural works in leather, exploring the relationship between material, form and repetition. In this work, folded elements build up into a dense, almost architectural surface. The deep burgundy colour enhances the sense of depth and shadow, while the handmade structure keeps the piece tactile and organic. Depending on the angle and light, the work shifts between softness and sharpness, appearing both controlled and instinctive at the same time.
