The title sorgenfrei - meaning “carefree” - says it all. In this large painting, Vera Klaus allows colour, gesture and rhythm to lead the way. There’s no need for control or resolution, the pleasure lies in the flow itself.
Drips, curves, and sweeping colour shifts fill the canvas, yet nothing feels forced. Marks appear and dissolve. Lines are playful, layered, and full of variation, from a sharp red stroke to a powdery pink blur. There's even a moment of humour in a small drawing tucked near the bottom right.
The painting feels like a dance between spontaneity and attention. Each move responds to the last, guided by instinct, emotion, and sound, as with all of Vera Klaus’ work. What remains is a sense of openness, a kind of visual ease that feels light but grounded.
