In Stellar Magnitude 4, vivid orange, red, pink and blue glass curves around a dark central opening. Copper wire appears within the layers, a material detail that connects the sculpture’s colour and light to the electrical systems that illuminate the night. The saturated glass seems to hold its own glow, while the dark centre keeps the work anchored in shadow. This contrast gives physical form to Francisca Snel’s investigation of light pollution and the gradual loss of darkness from our view of the stars.
